Carmen (Rafaelle) Lauwers lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium. Her professional background as a contemporary dancer and stylist in fashion gave her the strong sense of aesthetics and perfectionism she translates into ceramics today. As such, Carmen’s work stems from a minimalist, technical creation, yet with a very personal approach that she applies in elegant details and delicate glazing. Her practice results in tactile, serene designs that originate from a connection to the ancient and timeless craftsmanship of ceramics. In addition to her ceramic collection, Carmen designs accompanying table linen to merge her designs into a whole and create mutual coherence.
